Squidoo Introduces Themes for Lenses
Squidoo HQ today released 8 new themes for lenses. To apply one to your lens, all you need to do is go to the Lens Workshop, and click on the ‘Themes’ toolbox and pick the one you want. Here’s a quick preview of them all:
Update: a 9th theme has been added, because many Lensmasters wanted to separate the sidebar from the content.
Default

Default with Divider (added June 16th)

Gone Camping

Purple People Eater

Easy Street

Moment of Zen

Paintball

I like the default but I did have to play around with some html to make it look better. It changed positions in the transfer evidently so guess I better check them all.
Is there a way to change an existing lens to one of the other templates?
Great work.

I see that Kimberly has created a lens that also showcases the new themes – nice!

Burps, really? LOL.
I think it will depend on the lens. Off to play.

I actually the paintball for certain lenses such as my joker lens and I like the highlighter theme too except the problem with that is it highlights every module and I have a few modules together that I want to look like they’re combined into one. If there was a way to choose which modules to highlight it might be better. But other then that I like them!

Curious. Will we want our lenses to look the same and stick with one or will we pick the theme to suit the lens???
I’m off to check out Kimberly’s lens.
Thanks, Brenda

I really like that the module sub-titles are more prominent now. Along with the new themes, they also got rid of the section under the intro that linked to other lenses.

Thanks for showing all the themes in one place. Makes it easier to see the differences and find favorites. I think I’ll probably change themes depending on the lens topic.

I love ‘em!
BTW – great to see you on here Fluff!

Yes, as max33 mentions, Squidoo have removed the Discovery Tool. While many people may not have liked it, this is a huge blow to Lensmasters that were making use of the huge SEO benefits this provided.

If you have the Squidoo Toolbar installed, you can switch between themes while viewing any lens – perfect for experimenting.

Perhaps they’ll reintroduce the Discovery Tool, or a variation of it? I understand the criticism of it being so close to the top of the Lens, but surely Squidoo benefits by keeping traffic within the site. Maybe it could go beneath the sidebar ads, that’s a huge expanse of unused space. I’d also love to see the Lensroll make use of that, and show more Lenses without having to be expanded!

hmmm, the tool to allow us to see things as we experiment might be pretty handy!

Updated to include the new theme added to Squidoo – “Default with Divider”.
Also, lens themes are live as soon as you pick them in the Workshop (no need to publish), plus there’s a new ‘Apply to all’ option.
